March 30, 2005 |

Meet Bill Rawski owner of Zap Props.
The best damned prop house in the world.
He wanted to look like he was sleeping.
He's holding up some of the letters I sold him.
There were hundreds of them.
They were from the Miami Bowl outdoor signs.
Generations of bowlers walked under those letters.
"Leagues Forming Now"
"Open 24 hours"
Now they're all his.

Going Up
March 27, 2005 |

Maywood...
You'll all be happy to know I'm finally getting a decent camera.
I killed the crappy point and shoot.
It was time for it to go away.
So now.
It's time to spend some money.
I just haven't figured out which camera to get.
It needs to be durable.
I tend to break things.
I'm leaning towards a Nikon D70
Any suggestions?

March 18, 2005 |

A tire shop in Bronzeville.
The owner wanted to know what I was doing.
I smiled and told him "It's for the internet".
He looked at me for a second like I was nuts.
Then he smiled
And said "well alright".
And went back inside his shop.
If you ever get questioned
While taking a photograph.
Just smile and tell them
It's for the internet.
It's Gone
March 17, 2005 |

This is Darrick Elia.
Standing in the ruins of Miami Bowl.
Once Chicago's largest bowling alley.
Now, it's a big pile of rubble.
Darrick loves to bowl.
Now he's got one less place to go.

After lunch, walk one half a block north.
Look up.
You'll see dis dere.

Antique dealers get excited after a big sale.
It's what it's all about.
Shriners
March 13, 2005 |

At the antique show I met a nice couple.
Everytime something broke they would put a small piece of it in this basket.
They called it a Shrine to the Lost.

March 08, 2005 |

Early in the morning.
When the antique show first opens it's gates.
There is a mad scramble of humanity.
Running like crazy.
They each want to find a treasure.
And be on the Antiques Roadshow.

This crazy old theatre near 35th and Halsted.
Has been empty for years.
Everytime I drive by it. (And I drive by it alot)
I dream about which bands I'd have play there.
If I only had the money.
Kenny
March 06, 2005 |

Meet Kenny.
He's one of my favorite people on the planet.
He sells antique doorknobs and hardware.
Kenny is the hardest working man in the business.
He never sleeps.
Anytime you decide to go your local flea market you'll see Kenny.
Buying.
It doesn't matter how early you get up in the morning.
Kenny will be there before you.
He always gets the good stuff.
When I grow up, I want to be like Kenny.
